Star Shooter: Phototheraphy For Kids

Star Shooter implements culturally adaptive and client-centered workshops to children aged 8-18. The mission is to equip children with a tool for expression using photography and allow them the opportunity to discover the “star” within themselves. Workshops can be conducted with an individual or in a group setting. The child will learn digital photography techniques using a camera, mac computers and adobe photoshop software. A culminating project will be assigned for the child upon completion of a class.
Amanda K. Photography is proud to be a part of this amazing program, founded by Johnna Brynn Bockover, and will be offering Seattle’s first Star Shooter Workshop in 2011! For more information on Star Shooter please visit: www.starshooter.org
Operation: Love Reunited “Giving Back To Those Who Ask Nothing More Than To Come Home”

Operation: Love Reunited is a non-profit organization that offers professional photography sessions for deploying military service members and their loved ones for free, by professional photographers. These special sessions, with a patriotic edge, are planned around deployments and are for deploying, deployed and returning military families. It is designed to capture moments for you to remember. It’s art. It’s love. And it’s all made possible by artists wanting to give something back to those who make the United States what it is. These service members ask for nothing in return- but to come home.
Amanda K. Photography has openings for 2 OpLove sessions per month. Included in each session are a 4×6 album with 20 retouched images, a cd slide show of all session images, as well as the waived session fee. In addition to the sessions offered through “Operation: Love Reunited”, Amanda K. Photography also offers a military discount to all active duty military whether deployed or not. Please contact for details.
***Please note that orders and current military ID may be requested. Pre-deployment sessions in which the deploying spouse or loved one is participating, should include their military uniform, dress, working, or BDUs, being worn for most of the session. Some images may be taken in civilian clothes but please understand that this program does not focus on traditional family portraiture. If a session takes place and the spouse has already been deployed, the session should keep a patriotic theme including military gear such as hats, uniforms, boots, etc.***

You know someone…You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty. You know someone. I guarantee it.
I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography – $750 worth, to be exact. Whether it’s a custom book, canvas, prints for Grandma, or a slide show to watch over and over…it’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season. Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $250 print credit. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be?
The rules: You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-home does not qualify as sincere financial need.)
The nominee must reside/be willing to travel to the Kitsap County area. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well. E-mail me the full story: katie@amandakphotography.net. …get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!
Open your heart to someone – and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.
Many thanks to the other photographers joining me in this spirit. If you are not local, check out www.givingisawesome.com to see if there’s someone closer to home for winning portrait-y goodness!
