{Project 52, Week 2- Mailboxes | Seattle Photographer}

I was so excited about my topic this week, because once again, I’ve wanted to shoot some of these mailboxes for years!  YEARS internet!  I don’t know what it is about some old, rusty, beat up thing, but it makes me think.  With this subject, I just kept thinking about how many different forms of communication have been through these things, how many days and nights passed for these to get so rusty and old.  I have my personal favorites in this batch- the white ones towards the top.  I don’t know WHY they speak to me they just do.  Even my 6 year old, who I dragged along with me, kept asking me why I was taking pictures of such ugly old mail boxes.  It made me laugh.  He kept pointing out the nice new ones.  I kept trying to explain the history to him but it was WAY beyond him.  Anyway I loved the light today.  It was overcast of course because the clouds were about to burst open again with rain.  Just like they have all week long, and almost all last week.  But I got the shots and the light made the colors so nice….So!  Without anymore blabbing from me…here are the mailboxes!

Sandra Marek - I love taking pictures of old and decaying things too. I just feel that they have a story to tell and someone should preserve it. Your mailboxes definately have a story.
Great images.

Sara Beth - They’re so beautiful in their shabby little way. It’s a funny idea thinking of you wandering around photographing mailboxes. If I were 6 I would probably be confused too. LOL
