{Week 1 = Trees | 52 Week Project}

I have my list!…and I’m going to explain a little about how I’M doing this project.  I’m sure there’s countless ways that people can approach this kind of thing, but mine was simple.  I want to push myself in photography, I want to learn some new things about myself and my style, and I want to be able to stick to it:)

So a few days ago I brainstormed different topics.  I didn’t limit it to only things I enjoyed or had an interest in, quite honestly I just wrote down whatever came into my mind, that I could document with my camera.  Now that I have my list, I’m just going to sit down on Sunday evenings and choose a topic off my list.  This week, to start everything off, I’ve picked TREES.

I don’t consider myself a landscape photographer at all…..I mean AT ALL.  I know plenty of wonderful photographers who take amazing shots of landscapes and and nature shots.  Some of them are pros, some are hobbyists, and some people, like my dad just do it because they like the views.  I will never forget growing up and going on family vacations.  Our family vacations ALWAYS consisted of driving somewhere, always going through the mountains (as my dad loved the mountains), and always camping here and there along the way.  During these trips my dad would be driving along and see the view and exclaim “Oh WOW just LOOK at THAT…..isn’t it WONDERFUL?”  After a couple of times saying that again, with little interest from any of the other 6 people in the car, he would pull to the side of the road and spend 5-10 minutes snapping away.  In fact, the last time my dad was in Seattle, we went to visit my sister at her workplace.  As we were driving back to my home, along I-5, in almost rush hour traffic I might add, he looked over and saw a great view of  Mt. Rainier.  He had to pull over RIGHT there on the freeway so he cold take that picture!

I have to admit that I don’t have the love of landscape pictures as some of my friends and family, but I’d love to explore it!  Thus my topic this week will hopefully kick that off……or at the very least get me to notice the beauty in the landscape around me:) And what better place to document some trees than in Washington!  I’m surrounded by all sorts of trees and I’m excited to get out there.  I’ll be posting my results on Saturday!  And just because I’ve been bad and not posted a lot of photos with my last few posts, I want to post a picture that got me thinking about this topic.  A preview of what’s inspired this topic for me!
