It’s a new year!…and not only a new year but the start of a new decade! As I lazily got up this morning, after my Nate lovingly let me sleep in until 10, I was thinking about how much my life has changed over the past 10 years. I thought I’d start off this post with one of those crazy quizzes we all see:
-How old were you? 20…almost 21
-Where did you work? The Limited in South Bend, IN….I distinctly remember walking in and rolling up the gate of my store wondering if the computers were going to work since the Y2K scare! Seems funny now!….and we did less than $200 in sales that day.
-Where did you live? Granger, IN
-How was your hair style? Long and curly, I think!
-Did you wear glasses? Yes, but usually I wore contacts
-Who was your best friend? Jenny Robertson…..I don’t know where she is today…I MISS YOU JENNY!
-Who was your boyfriend/girlfriend? I had been married for almost 3 years!
-How many piercings did you have? 2 in each ear
-How many tattoos did you have? None
-Who were your favorite bands? Savage Garden, Smash Mouth, Creed
Some other pop culture facts about 2000 that I’ve forgotten until I looked it up? See if you remember these! Reality TV started, 2000 was the year digital music broke onto the scene. Remember Napster? I think 2000 was the year I got my first cell phone. This was also the year that Nathan and I bought our first DVD player. It was more affordable
Gas was just over a dollar a gallon where I lived. I think we started the year off at .95/gallon in Indiana and finished it with about $1.47 a gallon and a movie ticket was about $6.50 where I lived.
WOW! Prices sure have changed! My life looked little like this…I was working in retail as a manager and that was what I wanted to do forever! I was working my way up to District Manager and I loved it. I didn’t have any kids yet, we lived in a nice apartment. I drove a gray Hyundai Sonata….fully loaded (which I loved) and Nathan drove a white Toyota Tacoma pick up truck. And the one funny thing I remember? We bought our Christmas tree on Christmas Eve and I decorated it with 1 string of lights and some of those red bows you can buy at Walmart!![]()
Today, Nathan and I have 3 beautiful children, I have a rewarding career where I work for myself, that I love and can see me doing for the rest of my life. Nathan is in the Navy studying to become a Pharmacist and I’m just really happy and content with my life right now. Over the past 10 years we’ve lived in Indiana, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, Connecticut and finally in the last 5 years we’ve lived here in Washington state. I wonder what I’ll be writing 10 years from now when I’m 40! Happy New Year! I’m off to watch the Rose Bowl!!!![]()
