{A New Year, A New Beginning | Bremerton Photographer}

It’s almost 2010 can you believe it?  I just read back over my post for 2009, that I wrote exactly 1 year ago today.  You can read it HERE.  I personally always find it refreshing to read back over my past goals and see how they turned out.  I won’t say that I completed everything on my list.  My 365 Project was a complete disaster!  But I did achieve a lot of my other items on the list!

When I look back on 2009, the word that comes to mind is…….GRATEFUL!  I’m grateful for all of the new friends I’ve met both online and in person.  I feel like I have such a great network of professionals to collaborate with and who I actually call “friends”.  My hope for 2010 is that I’ll get the opportunity to meet some of these friends in person.

I’m grateful for the blessings I receive each and every day from pursuing my dreams.  It’s a lot of hard work!….A LOT!  But I’m grateful again for parents who taught me the importance of hard work and determination and to go after whatever I want.  Speaking of parents, one of my goals last year was to find ways for my kids to spend more time with their grandparents.  We did that this year! Visiting my parents in Boise, and also going to visit Nathan’s parents in Colorado.  I didn’t know the reason WHY I had the impression to strive for that goal last year, but as events have unfolded in the past few weeks, I’m glad I made that a priority and will continue making that a priority.  This may turn out to be a difficult year personally for me, but I will always treasure the time I take to enrich my family relationships!

SO, let’s get started on my plans for 2010!  I’m SO excited about this upcoming year!  We’ll start off with I KNOW, then I WILL, then I AIM:)

I KNOW:

-I will continue to guide and love my children as they grow older and face some of the trials and difficulties of this world

-I will foster my close relationshiops and be strength to my friends and family just as they provide strength for me in my difficult times

-I will laugh at least once per day

-I will continue to give credit of my successes and blessings to my Father in Heaven and Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and this year I plan to make sure my children know of my love and relationship with God.

I WILL:

-Continue to focus on my health and fitness by being active and making the priority and time for myself

-be debt free by the end of this year!

-create more local awareness of my business and focus on more local business this year

-hit my sales projections for this year, which are DRASTICALLY higher than last year!

-attend one great business workshop

-finish my studio and start working there during set hours

-Blog my sessions with SPEEDY accuracy:)

-Learn 2 new skills to incorporate into my business that gives value to my clients!

-get away with my husband on a trip just to ourselves

-write down my feelings for my dad and take at least one great portrait of him this year

I AIM:

-Stick to the schedule that I’ve created to help keep balance in my work and personal life

-Fold laundry RIGHT after they get out of the dryer and not let it build to an unmanageable mountain

-To continue giving back to the photography community as I’ve received so much from it!

So there you have it!  I think it’s so important to sit down and reflect on your goals and plans for the future.  It’s a great thing to come back and revisit during the year, especially if you’re feeling overwhelmed and a little lost.  It helps you to refocus, and these kinds of things give you a sense of accomplishment.  I just want to end with a video of the past year for me.  This is a mixture of the work I’ve done and some of the personal things that went on in my life too:) Enjoy and I wish all of you a Happy New Year!

Shamalea Photography - Katie,
I love the side show! I think you do an amazing job of balancing everything. I have yet to take down Christmas so I am not even ready to commit to New Year’s goals. And to have them done when the kids are home from school, BRAVO!
