As usual, I’m rushing around today getting stuff ready for my trip to Mexico! I’ve been “packing” all week, but that really only consists of me setting stuff out that I’m GOING to be taking and now I’m actually putting everything IN my suitcase. Yesterday I picked up my mom at the airport and wrote the kids schedules down. Can you believe this is the first time EVER that I’ve left my kids for longer than a night? It’s not that I haven’t wanted to go away for a while, it’s just that the opportunity hasn’t presented itself. So I’m all sorts of nervous on so many levels.
1. This is my first time traveling internationally (ok, I know Mexico is just south of the border, but this will be my first time going through customs, having my passport, etc). All I need to remember is…..avoid the time share poeple, AVOID the time share people.![]()
2. Will my kids drive my mom nuts, so much so where she’ll never want to come back? I swear I think I’ll come home and her bags will already be packed, ready to book it back to Boise as fast as she can. But seriously, we live on a military base right now, and I’m worrying that my mom will somehow forget her “special” ID and not be able to get back on base, or that a freakishly rude base police will pull her over like they did me, and something bad will happen.
Those are by no means my ONLY worries, but they’re my main two. This post is so telling of me, and embarassingly sheds a big bright spotlight on my innermost flaw of worrying about nothing really. So what’s my coping mechanism? I will be browsing through beautiful bridal magazines for inspiration on the flight down, and then lounging in the warm sun for a day and a half before my actual “work” starts. I’m sure those sun rays will just melt the worry right out of me. That along with video/voice chat with my kids and mom every night, to make sure they aren’t running her ragged.
I will be working on a few sessions while I’m away also, so don’t worry if you’re gallery is not posted yet! I still have some limited mini session openings on November 21 and December 5, so if you’re thinking of getting your pictures done for the holiday season and want to choose from some awesome holiday cards, e-mail me and get your name on the list, they’re filling up very fast! If you’d like to see the card options again just go HERE. I’ll have real samples at the session for you to choose from.
And as always here’s some snapshots to spice up this post a little. As I was walking along last night, watching my kids trick or treat, I was once again struck at how fast they grow up. I watched my little Kasen run as fast as his little legs could carry him from house to house, excited to ring the doorbell, and a little aprehensive of the “BIG ROAR’S” which happens to be anything that scares him. We went with friends that we go trick or treating with every year and I just remembered how in years past everyone was so small, and fewer in numbers, or in strollers, and now they all run in a big swarm together from house to house. Life is good! Here’s my very serious “Harry Potter”, my ultra poser “Snake Eyes”, and my “Little Quarterback” who didn’t know what to think of black stuff under his eyes so he smeared it all over the place…..and thank GOODNESS it didn’t rain this year!
