Every girl loves to feel beautiful, and every girl feels beautiful in a different way. Some wear pretty clothes that make them feel amazing, some get glammed up with makeup and dressed TO THE NINES and go out for a night on the town, it doesn’t matter HOW they do it, we all know that girls and women love to feel beautiful in whatever way works for them. That’s one of the things that I absolutely love about my job- making people feel fabulous about themselves. Whether it’s them with their families, seniors on the threshold of their adult lives, a couple starting their journey together- whatever it is, I love the way the pictures I capture end up making my clients feel. I recently read an article on a blog, Sage Wedding Pros. They interviewed a wedding photographer I follow down in Texas, Stacy Reeves…..or TEJAS as I often say with flair to my children (my dad grew up in Texas and so did I until the age of 9 or 10, but we always visited family down there throughout my life, so deep down, I have a little piece of Texas in my heart).
Anyway, Stacy was talking about how her favorite part of her job was “Helping people move past their insecurities and feel beautiful, and don’t we all want to feel beautiful?” I know I do! Stacy admits she does too. Even those guys out there want to look the best they can. The key word to me there was “helping people move past their insecurities”. This is the hardest thing to do as a photographer and one that I try so hard to do at each and every session. Getting people to relax helps them to act like…..well, THEM! Usually when we forget about those little insecurities we all have- our teeth, our few extra pounds here or there, our arms, our legs, our tummy, our ears- whatever it may be – when we forget about those things, even for a little bit, we relax, we have fun; and THAT, my friends, is when the amazing shots come out.
I recently had two firsts for me. My first boudoir session, and my first session in my new studio. It went great and I got one of my favorite images ever, since I’ve been shooting! Boudoir is a new concept in photography, but let me tell you, it can definitely make a girl feel lovely! This session was for a special present for Brittney’s husband, so this is the only image I’m going to post, but let me tell you friends, it was H O T! This is one amazing lady. With two small children she STILL has it! Her husband is a very lucky man!
For those of you wondering, Boudoir sessions can be whatever YOU, the client is comfortable with. Remember the words above? When you’re relaxed then YOU show through to my camera. All my boudoir sessions include a custom designed album/book and of course discretion is always used. If you don’t want images posted, they aren’t. Happy CINCO DE MAYO everyone! OH….and I’ve subtly freshened up my image a bit on the blog and website, have you noticed?
