As 2008 comes to a close I find myself in awe at how fast the time flies! It seems like just last year I was waiting for Nathan to come home from a LONG deployment at sea, I had started playing floor hockey at church, Kasen was about 6 months old and I was still searching for that one thing that would be my passion while still letting me work around my schedule and home.
Don’t you ever wish you were a kid again where time just dragged on? First it seemed like Thanksgiving to Christmas took FOREVER! Then Christmas night would not end fast enough. I would sit up almost all night with my sisters wondering when morning would come and at what exact moment Santa would visit our home. Other things took forever too. When oh when would I FINALLY be in high school? How long was it going to take for me to be of driving age? When would I finally be able to date? WHEN was I going to graduate from high school and become part of the “real” adult world? As I look back on those moments, it seems like they all took forever at the time. Now I can’t hold onto time long enough. Anyway, all this reminiscing has brought me to the end of this great year; and it really has been a pretty great year when all is said and done.
So as I’ve been thinking to the future and gearing up for next year there are a few things that I KNOW I’m going to do, a few things I WILL do, and a few things I’m aiming for. So without further adieu, here’s my 2009 GOAL list….I don’t like using the word resolution![]()
I KNOW that I will:
- savor those little moments with my small children. They are growing up way to fast and I want to cherish these young years now
-bask in the happy moments in life and make our home our refuge from the world
-refocus on my relationships and prioritize what’s really important
-remember to give credit for all my blessings and successes to my Father in Heaven and Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I WILL:
-Make it to the gym at least 3 times a week, this is the year to become HEALTHY, I’m not going on diets or getting crazy, just becoming healthy and in turn getting down to that ideal weight range
-have a successful photography business: meaning my OWN definition of success (steady photo shoots to support my new studio opening this spring-YAY!)…more on the studio later
-achieve all of my business goals for this stage of my 3 year plan
-take a great family vacation someplace amazing in 2009
-blog at least two times a week so I can fill up that 2009 family book, as well as to keep all my clients informed, connected and up to day with me
-Start my 365 Project to keep a fresh perspective on photography and learning…what is a 365 Project you might ask? Well, on January 1, 2009 I will be posting 1 image a day and blog about it on my photography blog. It can be of anything, and I will be trying to go outside of my comfort zone of people but really it can be about anything. I will do it everyday for 365 days![]()
I’m AIMING:
-to be debt free by 2010
-to be a better mother who doesn’t shout at her children in frustration but gently guides her children and sets a good example in everything that I do
-to have our children connect and bond with their grandparents as both sets are getting older and I want my children to have fond memories of their grandparents like I have
So there you go, my 2009 Goals…..what are yours? Do you think goals or resolutions are a good idea, or do you think they just set you up for failure? I heard something last week on the radio about people who are successful in their lives….the use the words “when” and “I will”, instead of “if” and “maybe”……HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
